We have recently published a new Case Study, following the completion of full-scale vacuum drying trials that we carried out for nuclear decommissioning client, Sellafield Ltd.

The trials were carried out using a wet test material that was designed to reproduce certain characteristics of nuclear waste.

MechaTech Systems were contracted to establish the volume reduction of waste when dried to critical moisture content, conducted in collaboration with Nuclear Restoration Services Ltd (NRS) and The Decommissioning Alliance (TDA).

The test material was vacuum dried over a period of six months, utilising the Advanced Vacuum Drying System (AVDS).

Throughout the trials, key data was recorded and analysed. A live feed provided real time data which proved an invaluable asset for key stakeholders. Upon successful completion of the trials, a final detailed report was provided including conclusive results, observations and key learning.
